It’s National Veterinary Technician Week, and we wanted to take this opportunity to celebrate the remarkable passion and dedication of our veterinary technicians. First celebrated in the early 1990s, National Veterinary Technician Week aims to recognize the contributions of vet techs across the country.

There is no such thing as a “typical” day for a vet tech, and each one is absolutely essential to the day-to-day operations of the Phoenix Zoo’s Joyce Corrigan Animal Care Center. Vet techs’ responsibilities include assisting with medical procedures, lab work, patient triage and dozens of other unique tasks.

Our vet techs join an incredible animal care staff who works 365 days a year to ensure the health of more than 3,000 animals, with nearly 400 species represented, including many threatened or endangered species.

More than anything, however, they all share an insatiable love for the animals that call the Zoo home.

To the Zoo’s vet techs, Mark and Sheri, THANK YOU!
