We are excited to welcome three female African painted dogs to their new habitat at the Zoo!

These three gorgeous animals came to Phoenix from the Oklahoma City Zoo.

Female African painted dogs can be a bit aggressive, so their introduction to our current male, Kio, will be carefully planned out.

As you can see, carnivore staff meticulously covered their habitat with food and enrichment items to keep them busy and intrigued. For any animal, exploring a new habitat can be wonderful and exciting, but also a little scary. We’re happy to report our new arrivals seemed comfortable and engaged.

Next time you’re at the Zoo, be sure to visit them on the Africa Trail next to our cheetah brothers!
