Learn to draw dinosaurs with artist Jay Fotos, a multi award-winning comic book veteran who has worked professionally in the industry for nearly two decades on hundreds of projects including “Spawn,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” and “Mars Attacks.”
Known for her lively paintings of dinosaurs in dresses, local artist Leah Kiser will be drawing live at the Phoenix Zoo.
See Leah’s work on her website: artifactfa.com.
Phoenix Zoo science educator, Jamie Alcumbrac, will be discussing the basic evolution of plants and the different types of vegetation commonly found in the Mesozoic era. Find out what some dinosaurs ate and how plants helped shape our planet!
While movies and stories have made these ancient behemoths seem straight out of legend, dinosaurs are just as much a product of innovation as they are imagination. Knowing about animals alive today helps scientists to rebuild the creatures of Earth’s history. By putting together bones, imprints – and, yes, even poop – we can piece together our enormous past. Watch artist Benji Paysnoe use information from paleontologists to put together dinosaurs as we best know them: through evidence!
Indie game designer, Darren Stokes, will be on hand with his latest creation, DinoMight: Master the Might of Evolution. DinoMight is an epic card game for ages 10+ in which players design dinosaurs and use resources to adapt, hatch and survive to become the apex species. Don’t miss this chance to pick up a copy of the game and several collector’s cards exclusive to meeting the game’s creator. Younger visitors will enjoy coloring pages from the game’s stunning hand-drawn elements.

Alex draws a lot, and spends much of the rest of her time living in her head imagining adventures. (In reality, she’s much too fond of the comfort of home to go out on adventures herself.) She likes telling stories and enjoys seeing her hard work make people happy. That’s a pretty awesome feeling.
Come check out her collection of dinosaur art, prints and books, and get a free sketch while you’re visiting her booth!

As the Dinosaur Company‘s Director of Exhibits, Robby worked claw in claw with the zoo to help create the Dinosaurs in the Desert exhibit. He’ll be on site with real fossil material to see and touch, talk about dinosaurs, and answer questions about how the animatronics are made.
This will be an ‘all card’ day. Every card we’ve given out to date will be available. If you’ve missed a card, or are new to collecting them, you won’t want to miss this booth.
