Wild Workshops
If you’re looking for a more in-depth experience then Wild Workshops are the way to go. During these 60 minute programs, Zoo staff will use hands-on activities and live animal interactions to help your students explore a topic in depth.

Fee: $100 per group in addition to admission
Duration: 60 minutes
Availability: Monday – Friday; 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Group Size: Maximum of 35 students per group. Schedule additional workshops for larger groups.

Theme Descriptions:
Exploring Deserts (Recommended for grades 1 – 8)
In this workshop students will use activities and discussion to investigate how animals have adapted to survive in the harsh environment of the desert. They will also explore how a desert compares to other habitats and the important roles each animal plays in its desert environment. Students will also have the opportunity to see some desert animals up-close in the classroom.

Exploring Deserts Academic Standards

All About Adaptations (Recommended for grades 1-8)
This workshop helps students explore the reasons that adaptations are so important for animal survival. Older students will explore such concepts as competition, limited resources and ecological niches. Students will also have the opportunity to see some animals up-close in the classroom.

All About Adaptations Academic Standards

Introduction to Endangered Species (Recommended for grades 3-8)
This workshop serves to introduce students to the complications species face (human and natural) and how those factors affect their ability to survive. Students will also explore why species are important to the survival of their ecosystems. The workshop finishes with a discussion of simple solutions to empower the students. Students will also have the opportunity to see animals up-close in the classroom.
