Animal Discoveries
A 30-minute animal presentation designed to make a school’s field trip more valuable. One of the Zoo’s Program Specialists will present animals and be available for a question and answer session.

Fee: $75 per group in addition to admission
Duration: 30 minutes
Availability: Monday – Friday; 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Group Size: Maximum of 75 students per group. Schedule additional programs for larger groups.
Registration: Three weeks notice and advanced payment is required. Call 602.914.4333 to register.
Themes: Animal Kingdom (PreK-2), Creepy Crawlies (PreK-2), Predator/Prey (3-5), Endangered Species (3rd and up)

Theme Descriptions:
Animal Kingdom: Experience the wide variety of the animal kingdom. From fur to feathers, scales to exoskeletons, discover the amazing characteristics of the animal world. (Recommended for grades PreK-2)

Animal Kingdom Academic Standards

Creepy Crawlies: Venture into the world of slimy, creepy, scaley or even scary creatures. Learn how these "creepy" animals are beneficial to plants, animals and even their environment! See for yourself that these animals aren't as "creepy" as you thought! (Recommended for grades PreK-2)

Predator/Prey: Explore the wild animal survival kit. Learn about the many ways animals eat and avoid being eaten! Discover adaptations like the silent flight of the owl, snake scales, prickly spines of a hedgehog, and other fascinating survival tactics. (Recommended for grades 3-5)

Predator/Prey Academic Standard

Endangered Species: Find out the challenges plants and animals face worldwide. Introduced species, disease, loss of habitat and poaching are some of the subjects that will be discussed. Discover what the Phoenix Zoo is already doing and what you can do to help. (Recommended for grades 6+)
