I would like to do a story about the Phoenix Zoo. How do I set up a visit?

provide information for your story.
Do you offer free admission to members of the media?
We waive admission fees for media covering a Zoo visit on assignment. We request advance
notice of your visit so that we may best accommodate your needs.
Can I take photos at the Phoenix Zoo?
All Zoo visitors are welcome to take photos inside the Zoo for their personal and private
use. Media should contact the public relations department in advance to arrange a photo shoot
or video shoot. Taking photos or video for stock image and other commercial purposes in not
permitted unless arrangements have been made in advance with the Zoo's public relations
department.
Are photos or slide images of the Zoo available for use with a story on the
Zoo?
Yes, we have a fairly comprehensive library of both digital and slide imagery. Photo credit
and return of the image is required for use.
Can I use the Zoo as a venue to film scenes for a commercial, movie or print
advertisement?
We consider these requests on a case by case basis. Please refer to "Use of Site" guidelines
for more information.
Use Of The Phoenix Zoo As A
Commercial-For-Profit Photographic Site
The Phoenix Zoo has numerous locations that are well suited for use by commercial photographers for print and electronic media as well as for a television or commercial production. These sites will be made available by permit during off-peak times and will be structured to ensure minimal inconvenience to Zoo visitors. Most weekdays, early morning and weekend evenings (except holidays) are generally considered off-peak.

We request two weeks advance notice whenever possible.
Fees:
A site fee of $1,500 per day (anything more than two hours) will be required. A deposit of
$350 will be required before the date can be reserved. The remaining fees are due in 30 days
(prior to date). Additional fees may apply as follows:
- $40 per hour for Zoo staff.
- $350 per hour fee
Park Rangers or other Phoenix Zoo personnel will be assigned to direct pedestrian and/or automobile traffic as needed to ensure that there is minimal impact to natural conditions, wildlife or plants. All park and Zoo rules must be obeyed by the permittee. Any variances which are requested and approved will be specifically stated in the permit.
Permits must be requested in writing to the Public Relations Department at least seven (7) days prior to the requested date. The permit must describe the scope of the activity, the number of people expected on site, and the appropriate duration of the time requested.
General liability insurance covering this activity is required. The insurance must have coverage amounts of one million dollars ($1,000,000) for bodily injury; one hundred thousand ($100,000) for property damage and; must name The Phoenix Zoo as an additional named insured. A copy of the certificate of insurance must be on file with The Phoenix Zoo prior to the conduct of this activity, or this permit will be null and void.
The Phoenix Zoo reserves the right to deny any request. The Phoenix Zoo requests script approval where 10applicable before a shoot can begin.
