Prowl & Play, the Zoo's summer nighttime event offers water play, activities and guided night hikes.

 PHOENIX — August 10, 2010 — Ever wonder what really goes on at the Zoo at night? The Phoenix Zoo's new evening event, Prowl & Play, will let guests experience the Zoo in a whole new light…or dark! This event offers unique and exciting activities which allow guests to explore, see and hear the Zoo differently than a daytime visit.

"Prowl & Play promises to be an affordable and entertaining family activity, " says Bert Castro, President and CEO of the Phoenix Zoo. "Our guests get to see what happens when the sun goes down at the Zoo, and it's a great respite from the summer heat at the same time."

Prowl & Play creeps into the Phoenix Zoo this Saturday, August 14, from 6 to 9:30 p.m.

To celebrate the final event of the summer, Radio Disney 1580 has helped us make this the best event yet! Visit the Radio Disney tent to register to win four tickets and four 'meet and greet' passes to the Jonas Brothers Live In Concert, September 14^th in Phoenix.

Prowl & Play guests will enjoy an array of activities all designed to delight and entertain:

• Cool off as you prowl, jump and play in the Zoo's refreshing Leapin' Lagoon.

• Get wet and wild inYakulla Caverns as you explore the stalactites and stalagmites and splish splash down the waterslides. Be sure to check out the cavern creatures and enjoy the splash pads.  

• Take aim at your friends and family as you get soaked in Squirt Gun Water Wars.

• Jam with your little ones in the Toddler Music Mayhem.

• Be amazed as you discover the wonders of Zoo nightlife on guided night hikes throughout the Children's Trail.

• Test your boating prowess as you maneuver radio control boats on Stingray Bay.

• Build a LEGO® masterpiece and enter for a chance to win LEGOLAND® Resort Hopper Passes including LEGOLAND® Water Park and SEA LIFE™ Aquarium.

• Visit the Webkinz™ Road Trip van for games, give-aways and the magic of Webkinz™ World. The first 100 kids into Prowl & Play will receive a Webkinz™ plush.

• Sample a cool refreshing limeade from Your Ultimate Drink Stop®, Sonic®!

• Stop by the ASU Gammage booth and enter to win tickets to Shrek the Musical, Shrek the Musical buttons and CD samplers, plus create your own Shrek ears out of construction paper or your own "Shrek the Musical Freak Flag."

• Hop aboard the Safari Train and see what the "animals" really do at night.

• Visit the GameTruck®, the complete video game party.

Admission into Prowl & Play is $5 for all Phoenix Zoo members, $6 for non-members, and children under two are free.

Members of the Zoo will enjoy extra benefits during Prowl and Play including exclusive access to the "Pavilion Playhouse" complete with air conditioning, kids cartoons on the terrace movie screen and complimentary snacks and lemonade.
