WISH THE PHOENIX ZOO A HAPPY 50TH ANNIVERSARY WITH ARTWORK
Artwork to be displayed in PhoenixSkyHarborAirport for travelers to see

PHOENIX (May 17, 2012) – 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Phoenix Zoo, one of the largest non-profit zoos in the country. What began as a vision of one man, Robert E. Maytag, with help from the local community as well as countless volunteers and employees, has grown into a thriving organization that has been internationally recognized in the field of conservation, has provided unique experiences for guests to view native and exotic species of animals and has contributed to countless memories, photo opportunities and outdoor fun for millions of guests.
To honor this long standing cultural attraction, the Phoenix Zoo will be showcased in Terminal 4 of Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport starting in August. In addition to display cases that will highlight our conservation efforts and animal inspired art, the Zoo is looking for children to send us their own masterpieces, wishing the Zoo a Happy 50th Anniversary to be displayed for hundreds of thousands of travelers to see. Feel free to express your creativity and let your imaginations run wild as you compete to be one of 50 lucky entries that will be on display in this bustling terminal through the end of 2012.
The contest is open to children ages 3 to 17 and artwork must be submitted on an 8.5”x11” sheet of paper. Originals works of art are preferred, but digital files in JPEG or TIFF format, 300dpi, saved on CD or DVD will also be accepted. Please include the child’s first name and age on the back of the entry, as well as contact information on a separate piece of paper.  Entries may be mailed or dropped off to the Phoenix Zoo at the following address by June 1, 2012. For more information contact the Phoenix Zoo at 602.273.1341.
