- 38 reused 55-gallon plastic barrels were painted by the students.
- 43 teachers and 371 students participated in the project.
- The participating schools were from 7 different cities and towns.

- Each student and teacher participant was given a free pass for admission to the zoo on April 22nd, Earth Day.
- Each student and teacher participant was also given three 50% off admission coupons to the zoo on April 22nd, Earth Day. These coupons were to be used by the family and/or friends of the participating students and teachers.
- 152 project participants and 201 of their family and/or friends attended Earth Day celebrations at the Phoenix Zoo (353 total out of 8,411 Earth Day zoo guests).
- 5,577 votes were cast in the Favorite Barrel Voting Contest.
- The winner of the Favorite Barrel Voting Contest was Highland High School.
- The winner of the Environmental Connections Essay Contest was Horizon High School Ecology Club (essay by Sarah Geren).
- The winner of the Staff Pick for Barrel that best fits the project theme was Mesquite High School Wildcat Ecology Club.
- Prizes were donated by the Phoenix Zoo:
- 4 General Admission Phoenix Zoo Tickets
- One Year Basic Phoenix Zoo Membership
- 2 Free Passes for an Explorer’s Club Presentation
- Phoenix Zoo Guided Tour by a program specialist (for up to 36 people)
- 2 Free Passes for a Phoenix Zoo Twilight Night Camp
- Behind the Scenes Tour with the Phoenix Zoo Giant Tortoises (for 2 people)
