Auxiliary
Auxiliary members Jane and Carol host mid-week open house at Ruby's House.

The Phoenix Zoo Auxiliary is the longest-established volunteer organization in service to The Phoenix Zoo. Its inaugural meeting, in fact, was held a year before the Zoo opened in 1962. Over the following decades, Auxiliary members undertook an astonishing range of projects, from stuffing envelopes to caring for baby animals during a time when the Zoo couldn't afford professional staff.
Eventually, the Auxiliary carved out a vital role for itself, becoming the nonprofit Zoo's first major fund-raising organization, providing a grand total more than $2.5 million in revenue. In doing so, the Auxiliary made possible most of the early exhibits, programs, and infrastructure of the Zoo.
Today, the Auxiliary continues to serve The Phoenix Zoo through a number of imaginative ways, including hosting a travel program, helping with special events, and supporting the Zoo's Ruby House program for children.
