Petting Zoo at Harmony Farm

Pardon our dust, we're remodeling!

The next time you visit the Zoo you may notice something new, we've been busy remodeling the Red Barn at Harmony Farm! Due to the generous support of the Arizona Milk Producers, Arizona Farm Bureau and Shamrock Farms, the Red Barn has received a fresh new look. From new siding on the exterior to the future educational technology on the interior, the Red Barn will offer a fun and enlightening "farm" experience for all.

Head to Harmony Farm to learn all about life on a farm. While you are there don't miss the Petting Zoo! Children can pick up brushes as they enter the petting zoo and learn what it takes to care for these animals. This up close experience is a favorite for all ages as well as for the goats!

Highlights of Harmony Farm

• The Red Barn Petting Zoo is home to over 30 goats of different breeds and a miniature Zebu. We will soon have dairy calves, courtesy of one the UDA and Arizona Milk Producers' sponsored dairies.

• The Sheep exhibit houses 3 different breeds of sheep, including the "Churro" an endangered breed native to the south west and pride of the Navajo Nation.

• There is a gentle giant Percheron Draft Horse, Jack and his stable mates, Pedro the Donkey and Elgin, the 40 "something" year old Shetland pony (one of the original petting zoo animals and has been here since the Phoenix Zoo first opened – hails from Elgin, Arizona)

• Harmony Farm hosts care giving based programming such as Horse Hands, Critter Care, Breakfast on the Farm, Critter Keeper and many others.

• Harmony Farm is home to the new "ZOO CREW" 4-H club sponsored by The Phoenix Zoo. An Arizona Agriculture Cooperative Extension (U of A) program designed to give urban children the 4-H experience and provide an interactive learning opportunity.

• We also have a toddler yard, Old Mill house replica and picnic area with a view of Siamang Island on the Children's Lake. Great for birthday events and lunch time relaxation.
