Job Title: Wallaby Walkabout Volunteer
Department: Experiences
Supervisor: Trail Experiences Coordinator
Shift: Daily 9am - 1pm or 1pm - 5pm

General Statement: Wallaby Walkabout Volunteers provide an important role at The Phoenix Zoo. We are looking for energetic and personable individuals with strong communications skills that are eager to share their knowledge and passion of the natural world.

Wallaby Walkabout Volunteers are stationed in the wallaby exhibit in the Children's Zoo. Volunteers interact with visitors by answering questions and maintaining a safe exhibit for both the animals and the visitors.
Essential Duties:
  1. Interact with visitors using age-appropriate conversation.
  2. Enhance visitors' experience through educational interpretation.
  3. Communicate the Zoo's messaging to visitors
  4. Assist with crowd control and flow through the exhibit.
  5. Monitor the public's interaction with exhibit animals to help
  6. maintain the safety of both visitors and animals.
  7. Assist in the cleaning and upkeep of the exhibit.


Qualifications:
  1. Provide excellent customer service.
  2. Communicate with all age levels
  3. Commit to one 4 hour shift per week for one year.
  4. Ability to stand or sit for 4 hours outdoors.
  5. Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
  6. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  7. Exhibit a willingness to learn and share information about science, nature, animals and conservation issues.
  8. Provide proof of a negative TB test within the last year.
