The Phoenix Zoo is the first zoo to feature a dinosaur exhibit in a desert setting! What really makes our experience unique, however, is how we’ve tied the prehistoric creatures to our conservation efforts. Arizona is home to many magnificent animals with beautiful colors and patterns. We let these animals inspire the look of the dinosaurs in our Dinosaurs in the Desert exhibit!
Additionally, Dinosaurs in the Desert features a sprawling backdrop of land formations that pre-date and post-date the existence of dinosaurs (the existence of dinosaurs spanned 150 million years!).
• The Desert Lives Trail is a smooth desert path with occasional ruts and slopes. Closed-toed shoes are encouraged, but not required.
Dinosaurs aren’t the only ones with big appetites! In addition to all our regular favorites, number of dino-themed treats are available throughout the Zoo.
Please check the Dinosaur Calendar of Events for the latest info on specific dino-rific happenings.
• Please stay on the trail at all times and remember to keep a safe distance from all wildlife and desert plant life as many native plants have thorns and spines.
• Parents and adults, please keep a watchful eye on your children and be respectful of all barriers.
• Be kind to the dinosaurs! Please do not feed, touch or throw things at them.
