Rydables are a flexible and enjoyable way to experience Zoo.

Using new technology, you can rent a Rydable using their new app for just a few minutes or a few hours.  Take a quick spin around the lake or explore the amazing Africa and Tropics Trails at your leisure.

how it works

Step 1:  Scan the QR code or click the button below to download the Rydables App.

Step 2:  Open the Rydables App and follow the directions to set up your account.

Step 3:  Visit the Zoo, stop by the Rydables rental location behind Java Jungle, scan the QR code on the Rydable of your choice, enter your payment information and you’ll be ready to ride!

Pricing

$3 activation fee (to begin a ride) + $0.33/minute + taxes and fees per Rydable.*

  • $14.25 / 30 minutes
  • $25.25 / 60 minutes
  • $30.75 / 75 minutes
  • $36.25 / 90 minutes
  • $47.25 / 120 minutes

*A pre-authorization fee will be charged per device. This is a temporary hold to ensure you have sufficient funds to cover your ride(s). This will go away once your ride is complete. This may take up to 3 business days depending on your bank.

Up to 4 Rydables can be rented per device. 

You must have the Rydables App to rent a Rydable.  In-person credit cards or cash cannot be accepted.

The Rydables here go up to 4 mph.

The Rydables we have require you be less than 350 lbs.  Riders must be 11 years or older to ride alone.  Riders 10 years of age or younger must be driven by an adult who is 18 years or older.  One adult and up to two children (10 years of age or younger) may ride a Rydable at a time.

Everything is done on the Rydables app.   We do NOT have the means to do cash/card transactions on grounds.  There are QR codes on signage here and on both our website as well as Rydables.  Find them in your app store under “Rydables.”

The app will take you through all the information you need.  Then once you’ve added your banking information, locate a Rydable and scan the QR code on the right handlebar of the Rydable.  They walk you through the rest!

It really depends on how long you want to ride!  Here is a breakdown of costs and some examples for a better idea:

$3 activation fee (each time you begin a ride) + $0.33/minute + taxes and fees.  Examples with taxes and fees included:

You can add up to 4 Rydables per device*!

Guests will only be able to pick up and drop off (which means end your ride) behind Java Jungle in our Rydables area/plaza.  Once you get back to that location, you will have an option on your app to “End Ride.”  You will NOT be able to end it anywhere else on grounds.

You can pause your ride and enjoy as much of the designated paths as you wish!  All you have to do is “Pause” your ride.  This makes sure that no one else takes your Rydable while you are not with your Rydable.  When you are ready to resume just unpause your ride and away you go.  Reminder that as long as you have the Rydable, no one else can rent them, so you will be charged until it is returned. 

Every day the handlebars and footrests get wiped down.  Basic cleaning is done daily.  There are hand sanitizing stations scattered all around the zoo for your comfort and convenience.

  • I paused my ride and am now getting a “vehicle offline” error message.  What do I do?  Simply step back a few feet away from your Rydable and try again.
  • The app is telling me the ride is no longer paused but the Rydable will not move.  Now what?  This may be due to a weak connection.  Pause and unpause the ride a few times and the issue should resolve itself.
  • I cannot resume a ride after pausing?  Was someone on the Rydable pressing down on the handlebar?  Keep hands free off the handlebars and try again!
