Important booking information
To qualify as a field trip, all children must be accompanied by at least one adult (18 years and older) per 10 children and your school must be an institution established for the purpose of offering instruction to pupils in Arizona public, private and charter schools.
To qualify as a youth group, all children must be accompanied by at least one adult (18 years and older) per 10 children (3-17 years of age) and fall under the extracurricular program. Such groups include Scout troops, Boys & Girls Club and YMCA.
Groups must arrive and enter together. Anyone not paying with and entering at the same time as the group will be charged the regular admission rates: $39.95 for adults and $29.95 for children ages 3-13.
It is up to the school/group to collect money and pay for any adults or chaperones to be included at the school group rate. Parents cannot pay separately.
Payment or purchase orders must be received two days in advance of your visit for each person in your group. We accept payment in the form of school or organizational checks and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express & Discover). Please note that we are now cashless and no longer accept purchase orders on the day of entry.
Field trips are not booked until you receive a confirmation email from Phoenix Zoo Reservations.
If you do not qualify for the youth group rate, you may qualify for our group/bulk ticket rate.

Complimentary Aides: Students booked under a special education ticket type will automatically receive a complimentary ticket for an aide. The aide ticket is provided in addition to, and does not fulfill, the required chaperone ratio of one chaperone to 10 students.

Who qualifies for a field trip?
Arizona public, private and charter schools are eligible to participate in the Field Trip Program.
Who is considered a chaperone?
All adults accompanying a school group, including teachers, must have an adult ticket. Chaperones with a Phoenix Zoo Membership may use their membership for admission through the Zoo’s main entrance. Memberships cannot be scanned at the school group entrance.Â
What is your cancellation or reschedule policy?
Field trip reservations are non-transferable and cannot be rescheduled. If your school cannot attend on the reserved date, a new reservation must be submitted online, subject to availability. Refunds are not available for paid field trips.Â
Which days typically fill?
November and April are typically the busiest months for school visits and often reach capacity early. Schools planning visits during these months are encouraged to reserve as early as possible. Â
Are there any closure dates for the program?
Yes. Field Trips are unavailable March 8 – 19, 2027 due to Spring Break.
Where do buses park?
Please refer to the Arrival & Entry Procedures located within the Terms & Conditions for complete bus drop-off and parking instructions.Â
How does my group enter the Zoo?
Field Trip tickets are mailed to your school as wristbands. All participants must be wearing their assigned wristband before exiting the bus. Wristbands will be scanned upon entry and must remain properly worn throughout the visit.
What if a student or chaperone in my group is arriving late?
Participants arriving separately may enter through the main entrance during regular admission hours or through the school group entrance between 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., provided they are wearing their assigned wristband. Anyone arriving without a wristband must purchase General Admission at the current admission rate.
What if I do not have enough tickets?
Prior to the attendance adjustment deadline, additional tickets may be added (subject to availability) by contacting fieldtrips@phoenixzoo.org. After the final adjustment deadline, attendance cannot be increased. Additional guests will need to purchase General Admission tickets at the current admission rate.Â
Where is the school group entrance and what time does it open and close?
The Nina Mason Pulliam Gate entrance is our designated gate for school entries. It is located just south of the main entrance bridge and leads directly to the Children’s Trail. This gate is open for entry Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.  Schools wishing to enter after 11 a.m. will be required to utilize the Zoo’s main entrance.Â
Where do we exit?
All groups will exit out of the Zoo’s main exit located in the Gift Shop. Chaperones are responsible for escorting students safely across the bridge and back to their buses. Curbside bus loading is not permitted. Please contact us at fieldtrips@phoenixzoo.org if accessibility accommodations are needed.
Where should we store and eat lunches?
We do not provide monitored lunch storage. Students may carry their own lunches through the Zoo, coolers may be used or cubbies are available with the larger storage area at Lakeside and the smaller area at Plaza de los Ninos. These cubbies are available on a first-come, first-served basis. When it is time to eat, there are several areas with picnic tables for you to choose from. When it’s time for lunch, you may use Lakeside or Plaza de los Ninos, which are the two largest areas. There are also smaller areas down on the Farm and near the Buff-cheeked gibbon. Please note that these seating areas are open to all guests and groups and cannot be reserved. 
What do I do if an emergency occurs while we are at the Zoo?
If you are in need of assistance while on Zoo grounds, look for a Zoo Ranger wearing gold. If you are unable to locate a Ranger, please contact 602-658-8807.
