Those that are not on view at the Phoenix Zoo may be seen in our animal presentations, at the Arthur L. & Elaine V. Johnson Conservation Center or may not currently be at the Phoenix Zoo.
We are one of the largest non-profit zoos in the U.S., caring for over 3,000 animals with nearly 400 species represented, including many threatened/endangered species.
The Phoenix Zoo makes every attempt to provide accurate information; some of the information provided may change with new research findings. Animals occasionally move locations. Please ask a staff member for help finding your favorite species.
As you explore the animal pages, look for the Species Survival Plan® (SSP) symbol and the AZA SAFE: Saving Animals From Extinction symbol. SSP Programs are shared management efforts by zoos and aquariums throughout the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The SAFE program focuses on conservation efforts in the field.
