With a wingspan over three times that of a California condor, Quetzalcoatlus was one of the largest flying animals ever, but it was not a dinosaur. It belonged to a group of endothermic (warm-blooded) flying reptiles called pterosaurs.   

Quetzalcoatlus is thought to have hunted similarly to modern birds like herons and egrets, wading into water to snatch or spear prey. Its body was covered with hair, not feathers, and though it could fly, it was not an ancestor of modern birds.
