Pycnonemosaurus was in many ways like a modern jaguar. Hunting in dense tropical forests, it was likely an ambush predator that relied on surprise and aggression when taking prey.

Also like a jaguar, this species had an incredibly thick neck, strong jaws and powerful legs. However, unlike a jaguar, Pycnonemosaurus had tiny, functionless forelimbs with four clawless fingers on each hand.
