On Monday, October 13, a sudden microburst swept through the Valley, sending fierce winds and sheets of rain tumbling across the landscape. The Phoenix Zoo was not spared, as large trees were downed, walkways and structures were damaged and debris cluttered paths that once welcomed guests.

We are deeply grateful that no animals, guests, staff or volunteers were harmed. Dedicated keepers acted swiftly to bring animals to safety, and Zoo staff remain tirelessly committed to restoring the Zoo. Yet, the recovery challenges are immense. Among the hardest hit are nearly two dozen majestic trees that provided shade and character to the Zoo, which have been uprooted, as well as some of the staples of ZooLights, including the tunnel and the 50-foot-tall Lake Lights Tree.

Your gift will help rebuild these living landscapes, repair damaged pathways and strengthen the Zoo’s ability to weather future storms. By supporting the Storm Recovery Fund, you’re ensuring the Zoo remains a treasured place for our community.
