As one of the largest non-profit zoos in the country, the Phoenix Zoo relies solely on the support of our guests, donors and sponsors.

The Zoo began as a community initiative in 1962 and is a must-see destination in the heart of Phoenix. With the support of our community, we will continue to inspire people to care for the natural world.

This year, the Zoo is focused on raising money for the red river hog habitat, one of the few remaining projects in Predator Passage. We will be transforming a vacant habitat into the perfect home for this social, vocal and highly adaptive species. Red river hogs, also called “tufted pigs,” are native to western and central Africa. They are fast runners and exceptionally good swimmers.

This updated habitat will be located in Predator Passage, part of our new Africa Trail expansion. It will provide guests a unique opportunity to see these colorful pigs that are full of personality!

Tell your friends and family because it’s kind of a PIG deal!
