Tickets (including food, beverage, souvenir gifts and photo options) must be pre-purchased online. There will be a limit of 450 tickets sold per day.  

Once a limit is reached on a particular day, interested guests must select another day.

Tickets can be used anytime beginning at 7 a.m., but the last vehicle MUST be in line at 11 a.m.

Vehicle size must be no larger than a full-size long bed truck. Max vehicle specs are: 266″ L x 81″ W x 74″ H.

Due to overwhelming requests by our members and the community, we have added more dates for Cruise the Zoo! We have enjoyed this experience as much as our guests – and due to popular demand, we have now scheduled Cruise the Zoo for the first Thursday – Monday of June, July and August, as well as Friday, September 4 – Monday, September 7, and  Friday, September 11 – Sunday, September 13 and Friday, September 25  –Sunday, September 27. Hours will be limited to 7 a.m. – noon, with all cars needing to be in line by 11 a.m.  We will be accommodating up to 450 vehicles per day. 

Cruise the Zoo allows guests to view a variety of Zoo animals such as flamingos, giraffes, elephants and more while maintaining safe social distancing measures.

Rules of the Road

First, we want to take a moment to sincerely thank you for being here. Your support enables us to keep doing our important conservation work around the globe, encouraging kids of all ages to love nature, and keep up the highest standard of care for our animal ambassadors. On behalf of all our staff and volunteers – thank you.

  • Tickets are non-replaceable and non-refundable.
  • Refunds will not be issued in case of event cancellation due to inclement weather.
  • For guest safety, all tailgates, van/car doors and hatchbacks must remain closed at all times. Riding in the back of a pickup truck is not permitted.
  • Remain in your vehicle during the entire tour.
  • Follow the guided route. The speed limit is a tortoise-like 4 mph.
  • Loud noises are not permitted, including honking, music and yelling.
  • Do not feed the animals as they receive a healthy diet from their zookeepers.
  • The Zoo is a smoke-free facility, including electronic cigarettes.
  • Keep everything in your car and when you leave Zoo grounds, properly dispose of your waste in a trash can or recycle container.

We only accept debit or credit cards for this experience, including American Express, VISA, MasterCard and Discover. We also accept Apple and Google Pay.

No. Due to the ongoing pandemic, we will not be accepting cash payments for Cruise the Zoo.

Phoenix Zoo members are eligible to receive a discount. The discount is offered when purchasing tickets at phoenixzoo.org

Tickets are good for one (1) cruise around the Zoo. Guests may not return after exiting the Zoo on the same day without paying admission again. Tickets expire once guests exit the Zoo. Tickets can be purchased at phoenixzoo.org

Face coverings will be required for anyone in the vehicle who is interacting with a Zoo staff member upon entry and throughout your cruise. 

Yes. Guests must cruise through the Phoenix Zoo in the comfort of their own vehicle. Please remain one car length behind any vehicle that is directly in front of you. Passing is not permitted at any time.

We do not have rentals or shuttles available.

No. The Phoenix Zoo is a smoke-free facility, including electronic cigarettes. We reserve the right to escort guests off Zoo grounds if they are found disregarding our policies.

Yes, you may. For your safety while on Zoo grounds, doors MUST BE IN PLACE and closed at all times. All persons must be seated in the vehicle if the top is down.

No. For your safety, please be sure to comply with seatbelt and child restraint laws upon exiting the Zoo.

Yes, as long as guests remain seated at all times. Passing is not permitted at any time.

The animals are accustomed to seeing vehicles regularly – delivery trucks, construction equipment, etc. are a regular part of keeping the Phoenix Zoo running smoothly. Please refrain from honking, playing loud music or yelling.

No. This is a motorized vehicle experience.

Yes. You may bring your own food and drink to enjoy in your vehicle. No glass containers or alcoholic beverages.

Yes. Grab and go options must be pre-purchased online at phoenixzoo.org.

No. Alcohol is not allowed on Zoo grounds. We reserve the right to escort guests off Zoo grounds if they are found to be disregarding our policies.

No. Firearms or weapons of any kind are not allowed on Zoo grounds. We reserve the right to escort guests off Zoo grounds if they are found to be disregarding our policies.

No. The only animals allowed to accompany guests are trained and vaccinated service animals.

 

Yes, trained and vaccinated service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) are permitted with visitors with disabilities. The Zoo follows AZA guidelines, which is for the protection of the animals. When a guest brings a services animal to Cruise the Zoo, a Park Ranger will review the Service Animals Rules with the guest. If you’d like, you can view a downloadable copy of our Service Animal Rules before your visit. Please call Park Rangers at 602-914-4356 with any questions.

 

Service animals (such as dogs) are trained to perform tasks for the benefit of individuals with physical or mental disabilities. This includes, but not limited to, guiding individuals who are blind, alerting those who are deaf, protecting individuals prone to seizures and various other tasks directly related to a disability. Pets and other animals whose sole function is to provide comfort, companionship or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the Americans With Disabilities Act and Arizona state law. Therefore, pets are not permitted inside the Phoenix Zoo. All service animals will be vetted by a Park Ranger. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

 

Portable units are available prior to entry in the parking lot. Once inside the Zoo, due to traffic and social distancing guidelines, restrooms will not be readily available. Please notify a Zoo staff member if an emergency occurs.

No. Guests must remain in their vehicle at all times.

No. Guests are not permitted to feed any of the animals. We reserve the right to escort guests off Zoo grounds if they are found to be disregarding our policies.

Zoo Park Rangers will be available to assist guests with first aid. Please notify the nearest Zoo staff member if you are having an emergency.
